Western horoscopes can be just that; Guidance, explanation & gosh darn fun. In this work in progress show, Nikki explores the 12 zodiac signs through characters, personal essay and song in the hopes of –like many 20 something, city-living millennials– understanding more of the world around her and herself. Mixed as well with some dance, real horoscopes and — a face mask?! #taurusbaby”

Every night we dream.
We may not always remember our dreams when we wake up, but when our conscious mind takes a rest our sub-conscious mind kicks into gear and often takes us into other worlds. Our dreams are often scenarios that seem so strange but natural, while other times our dreams are so far from the truth they terrify us into waking up. No matter what we dream about, random things throughout our days can bring us back to a vivid memory from our sleep whether we’d like to or not. Sometimes these are pleasant thoughts and other times they may be traumatic, but at the end of the day they aren’t real.
The theme of this show is “In Your Dreams,” and it is a way for us as artists to cope with our dreams through our artistic expression. Our works are relating to our literal dreams while sleeping, but some of our pieces also reflect on our metaphorical “dreams” or aspirations. Ms Amethyst is bringing you this show inspired by one of her favorite artists, Dali, who’s most famous works were reflections of his dreams. The collection of artists that have been selected are very talented Philadelphia artists who come from different neighborhoods, but all share common dreams.

Let’s slurp down those bad thoughts together! Get lost in the sauce as we explore imposter syndrome — the inability to accept how awesome you are– in the most al dente way possible. Mamma Mia, I’m a spicy meatball!

With the theme shows, JERKS aims to challenge artists to take a step out of their comfort zones & focus their work on new themes!
This month’s theme celebrates the films and TV shows that we’ve all come to know & love, despite Siskel and Ebert giving them the thumbs down! JERKS will also be teaming up with Newt Wallen of Schlock and Awe Films to raise money towards keeping the Anthony Wayne theater open and operating!
