What’s more party than helping others in need and having a good time while doing it?

The PMA BIKE RIDE spreads positive mental attitude by giving out free pizza to anyone on the streets who is hungry. The group ride meets up across Philadelphia, providing people with hot slices and aiming to acknowledge the voice, value, and humanity of those too often looked down on.

In an effort to FURTHER SPREAD THE PMA for #nationalpizzamonth, PMA BIKE RIDE founder Joe Cox is riding with Andrew W.K. on tour from Philly to NJ, NY, DE, MD, & DC – all the way giving out ‘za and good vibes.

Cranksgiving Philadelphia 7

SatSat
November 4November 4
11:00 am6:00 pm

Can you believe it? It’s already time for the 7th Annual Cranksgiving Philadelphia!  Our favorite charity bike ride is back, and with an fun afternoon of bike riding for folks of all levels.

Benefiting Philabundance, this event’s purpose is to collect food to help provide a Thanksgiving dinner to families that wouldn’t normally get one. Started in New York City in 1999, this ride involves collecting food at grocery store “checkpoints”. All of the food purchased by riders will then be donated to Philabundance, the region’s largest hunger relief organization.

Two ride formats! The first “classic flavor” involves riding to various grocery stores to purchase food items and rack up points. The second will be a slower-paced group ride, same mission, but more relaxed and non-competitive in nature.

What to Bring? A bike, a helmet, a lock, a bag (or basket or rack or cargo bike) to carry the food, and at least $15-20 to purchase food items along the way. This is a charity event dedicated to helping feed the hungry so generosity is STRONGLY encouraged (and rewarded)!

Last year we had 145 participants collecting over 5100 pounds of food, so this year our goal is to….get a lot more riders and food than that! Everyone ends up here at TMoms for a fun afterparty among a mountain of donated food. Happy Cranksgiving y’all!
